Q: How many men attend the Romp?
A: The number guests has ranged from 70 to 150 men. Recently the average is about 125, including more than a dozen volunteers. Venue capacity is 200, requiring about 30 volunteers.
Q: Where is Romp held?
A: Capitol Hill area of Seattle, Washington.
Q: What ages of men attend the Romp?
A: The men who attend range in age from 18 to 70+ years old. Our last survey revealed that 75% are 35-54, with 15% 18-34, and 10% 55+.
Q: Why must I RSVP?
A: The RSVP process allows us to know how many men will attend
so we can have adequate water and refreshments available. An email "RSVP
confirmation" and a reminder will be sent. These
include many event details and directions.
Q: Do I have to get naked?
A: Yes, but please read on. Being naked is what Romp is all about. You may be
naturally shy or nervous or excited. We hope you'll realize that most everyone
at Romp was nervous at first. Some attend in creative undress (wearing a fun
hat, boa, mask or body paint. Being naked usually soon becomes quite comfortable.
Please know you are welcome just as you are.
Q: Do I get undressed in my car?
A: No. We provide a secure clothing check area.
Q: Can I wear footwear at the Romp?
A: Yes. Some men prefer to be barefooted but many wear shoes or
slippers. You will need to move from the registration / clothes check
/ social space to the dance space which are two separate rooms. The dance
floor is finished wood.
Q: What kind of music is played at the Romp?
A: Our DJs play music to suite our diverse crowd. From the global underground
scene, producing unique musical flavors that can’t be found in the
average nightclub or bar. Styles include house, a dash of disco,
tribal, progressive trance, lounge, trip-hop, nu skook breaks, ambient,
drum-n-bass, & acid jazz.
Q: Will my personal belongings be safe?
A: Yes. We have a secure clothing check area that is monitored throughout
our event. We do suggest you secure valuables in your car or leave them at home.
Q: Will I get mugged going to and from my
car?
A: No. The Romp is held in a safe part of Seattle, but please be aware of
your surroundings where ever you journey.
Q: Are there bathrooms?
A: Yes, on both dance and plush levels.
Q: Are there showers?
A: There are no showers available. We do get hot and sweaty while dancing
so there is a "Chill space/Social space" available as well as
an outside "cool-down" area.
Q: Will there be food and drink at the Romp?
A: Yes, non-alcoholic beverages and light refreshments will be served.
Q: Is sex allowed?
A: No. It is strictly forbidden.
Q: Is alcohol or drugs or smoking allowed?
A: No. These are strictly forbidden within the venue, and so smokers would have to get dressed and leave the building.
Q: What if I get an erection?
A: That does sometimes happen at the Romp. It will be OK. Be playful and examine
the connection between erection and what comes to mind next. We are celebrating
the male body and that is part of what happens to the male body.
Q: I am trans-gendered. Am I allowed to attend?
A: Yes, if you are post-operative and possess legal identification that
verifies that you are a male. (This answer and the conditions mentioned are under discussion, so please email us if this is your question.)
Q: Are women allowed?
A: No.
Q: I am too young / too skinny / too old
/ too fat. Will I fit in at Romp?
A: Yes.
Q: My penis is too small / big or (un) circumcised.
Will people make fun of me?
A: No.
Q: I have a surgical scar on my belly. Will
people make fun of me?
A: No.
Q: I wear eye glasses. Will people make fun
of me?
A: No.
Q: I wear a leg brace. Will people make fun
of me?
A: No.
Q: I have a hearing problem and cannot be
near loud music.
A: We provide a quiet area with relaxing quiet music so that our guests may
comfortably visit.
Q: I can’t stand being around young
people. Do I have to put up with them?
A: Yes.
Q: I can’t stand being around older
people. Do I have to put up with them?
A: Yes.
Q: Is this a religious cult?
A: No.
Q: Are we going to be raided by the police?
A: No. We avoid this problem because we are a private party that is
held on private property. Our Romp guests contact us for party information.
